-Born in the Bronx district of New York.

-Enrolls in Brooklyn College and meets the émigré Hungarian designer, Gyorgy Kepes

1946
-Moves to Los Angeles

1954
-Designs film poster and his first title sequence for Otto Preminger’s, Carmen Jones

1955
-Designs The Seven Year Itch and Man with the Golden Arm title sequences.

1958
-Starts working with director, Alfred Hitchcock and designs poster and opening sequence for Vertigo.

1959
-Designs title sequence for North by Northwest and Anatomy of a Murder.

1960
-Designs title sequences for Psycho and Exodus.

1968
-Designs corporate identity for Bell System Telephone Company.

1974
-Releases Phase IV, then returns to graphic and commercial design.

1990
-Begins work with Scorsese and designs the title sequence for Goodfellas.

1995
-Designs title sequence for Scorsese’s, Casino.

1996
-Dies of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
